Doing a bit of writing for the Irish Clay Pigeon Shooting Association. Thought I'd have a little go myself, and it's seriously addictive!! Thought I was Lara Croft (until I came back down to earth!)!!
Today I had my debut on the Liffey Sound FM Saturday Sports Show. As it was my first day on the sports show, I expected to take a back seat and learn the ropes. Alas, (as was the case on my news reading debut) I was thrown in at the deep end! Again! But I absolutely loved getting stuck in! Myself and the three guys had great banter. I actively participated in all the discussion from GAA, Soccer, Formula 1, Rugby and then some. As I would be an avid rugby fan, I gave a robust summary of what to expect for the coming season. It will be an interesting one no doubt, as everyone is out to prove their worth for the World Cup next year. New Zealand are cleaning up at the minute, but I have my doubts that they'll keep the trophy from travelling abroad! South Africa are an obvious favourite, and lets not forget, they have to regain their country's reputation after the dismal performance of S.A. in the soccer world cup! I'll be back on the show next week! Tune in online at Liffey Sound FM. http://live.liffeysoundfm.ie/ Today I started working with Liffey Sound FM radio. What started as a training afternoon turned into an opportunity for me to read the news live at 7 and 8pm! Went well thankfully, Phew! I'll be contributing on a regular basis, primarily reading the news, and will have the opportunity to contribute to their Saturday Sports Show - which I'm very excited about! I really enjoyed my time working on the Bray Summerfest. Met lots of great people & enjoyed loads of great music! For photos and sample of the event, check it out here. Ryan Tubridy was in Bray this morning for the final day of his 'Bucket & Spade' tour. It was his last ever show on RTE Radio 1 as he moves to 2FM to fill the Gerry Ryan morning slot. Ryan is looking forward to a more light hearted approach to entertainment, although he said the move is bittersweet. The video footage is available on Youtube. Republic of Loose being interviewed for BSF live TV and my interview with Peakin' Trippers which will be broadcast on tonights live show. You can watch the BSF TV day 2 coverage on UStream.TV. Very successful Day 1 of the BSF TV live from Bray seafront!! I interviewed Republic of Loose backstage after their sound check, and they joined Ryan O'Neill (East Coast FM) for a quick interview as well on the live show. Ryan O'Neill did an interview with myself so I could give an update on the drama of the day. I spoke to a few people on the Bray main street to see which bands they were most looking forward to seeing over the weekend! I also caught up with Shay and Daniel from Peakin' Trippers just before they went on stage, and that will be broadcast on tomorrow's live show. We're currently in pre-production for the Bray Summerfest next week, and it has been confirmed that The Late Late show host Ryan Tubridy will join us on location for his radio roadshow! http://www.rte.ie/ten/2010/0710/thetubridyshow.html I caught up with Andrew Maxwell at the Bray Comedy Club last night. As usual, an absolutely hilarious gig! Typical of Maxwell, there was a unique and intelligent mix of political and economic opinion, coupled with uncontrollable laughter. Naturally, there was the politically incorrect and cringe-worthy moments to suit all tastes in comedy! You can listen to the interview here. Yesterday I attended a Tibus seminar in Belfast called ‘Taking Broadcast Media Online’. The seminar featured Level 3 communications. Joe Trainer from Level 3 communications hosted an informative discussion on the future of broadcast media. From the Radiovisor to the HD ready TV took over 80 years but the use of video streaming over the internet is certainly growing at a much faster rate. Notably, 66% of internet content growth is video based, and the Youtube phenomenon is the most significant with Youtube now responsible for 78% of internet video streaming. Joe believes that internet video streaming has now caught up with television, and will surpass it in the near future with internet transporting data to television sets in place of traditional satelites, and possibly even 3D streaming across the internet! The big question is, how do we make money from this?! Well, advertisers have finally seen the value in advertising via online video. You’ve probably noticed that when you watch some popular videos on Youtube, there is an advert before the video is streamed. In 2008 the cost of online advertising was not profitable with revenue substantially less than cost. There was a huge shift in 2009 with increased competition amongst internet providers driving down the cost of advertising online, and revenue increased as advertisers realised that they could drastically increase their target audience by advertising on youtube, BBC player, Sky player etc... So for businesses looking to take advantage of this, its a matter of maximising the audience viewing your online video content in order to attract advertisers. Naturally, socially networking vis facebook, Twitter etc.. is the key for reaching a larger market. | To be a person is to have a story to tell.
